When I think of a battlefield, I think of so many things. The first thought that comes to mind is a song “I am on the battlefield for my Lord, for my Lord. Yes, I am on the battlefield for my Lord. And I promised Him that I would serve Him til I die. Yes, I am on the battlefield for my Lord.” How many people reading this article today can proudly say, “You are on the battlefield for the Lord?” And how many of you are trying to stay in the battle and having a hard time? You know, when you decided to make Jesus Christ your Lord and Savior, the battle with the enemy began. There are so many factors in this world that will cause us to experience a battle in our minds. Yes, the mind! I am talking about inviting the enemy into your mind and flooding your mind with ungodly thoughts which lead to ungodly behaviors. I know I am reaching someone reading this article today who probably feels convicted about some things they did that were not of God. These thoughts you may have had probably were way off track and may have changed your behavior so much that it caused an internal struggle.
The struggle could have been some form of addiction, drugs, alcohol, drinking, gambling, lying, cheating or stealing. The fact of the matter is that the struggles or behaviors experienced are not of God and once you start any one of these behaviors, they can alter your personality. If this happens, it can change you into someone you won’t even recognize when looking in the mirror!
The Bible says “For though we walk in the flesh we do not war after the flesh. (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds). Casting down imagination and every high thing that exalted itself against the knowledge of God and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians NKJV 10:3-5).
Paul knew that we as Christians would experience the war within our minds. Sometimes the war experienced within our mind creates strongholds that stack up like layers of bricks. The stronghold could be depression, anxiety, or low self-esteem which was created from the thoughts and ungodly behaviors the enemy attacked your mind with. Strongholds could be anything that has your thought process thinking negative thoughts about you or someone else. Paul says when the enemy tries to attack or has attacked; use God’s mighty weapons of warfare to counter attack which are prayer, faith, hope, love, God’s word, and the Holy Spirit.
Ephesians 6:10-18 NKJV “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
Class it Up: Win the struggle in your mind by reading the Bible daily!
Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.”
Women of God reading this article today; put on the whole armor of God to fight against the enemy. Get your belt—which is the truth. Get your breastplate—which is righteousness. Get your feet ready – to spread the gospel and the good news! Get your shield—which is your faith. Get your helmet—which is your salvation.
And finally get your sword—which is the word of God to battle the enemy. Are you ready to win the battle?
