DISCIPLINING YOUR MOUTH

My name is Michelle Moorer and before I became Evangelist Michelle Moorer I had to learn how to discipline my mouth. There were times in my life where my mouth would say just anything. Every word that left my mouth was a curse word even in my daily conversations. Do you know someone like this or is this you? Cursing became a normal way of talking for me. I cursed due to a lack of knowledge of not knowing how to live my life. I was saved, but through many years of living in sin I backslide and forgot all about God. I was living in darkness and did not realize it.

Proverbs 18:21 KJV states “Death and life is in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” Through all the years I would curse I did not realize that I was only condemning my soul, cursing my family and decreasing my life span. I lived in sin for 10 years not ever progressing or moving forward. I wondered why I could not keep money in my pocket, a job or a car. Money left as fast as it came. I could not keep a job for more than five years and my car would break down every year. It was so ridiculous! I finally came to the conclusion that something was wrong with my life.

In James 3:10 NKJV and NIV states “Out of the same mouth proceeded blessing and cursing. My brethren these things ought not to be. A few words spoken in anger can destroy a relationship that took years to build. Before you speak remember that words are like fire—you can neither control nor reverse the damage they can do. Always listen to what God tells you! God will never tell you anything wrong. James chapter 3:5 KJV “Even so the tongue is a little member and boasteth great things. Behold how great a matter a little fire kindleth!”

Reflect

Do you remember a time in your life where someone said to you “watch what you ask for and definitely what you say to people?” Think about a time in your life where you spoke something negative or positive and it came to past? Often at times you would hear from people it was the laws of attraction that was usually referred to as Karma. How did it make you feel when you thought about something you said caused destruction? What did you do? How are you going to change so this would never happen again?

Prayer

Father God, in the name of Jesus help me to not to speak words of destruction but only words of encouragement. For your word says words are like a honeycomb sweetness to health and bones. Thank God for controlling my tongue and listening to you more. In Jesus Name! Amen!
