Don Whyte was first introduced to music by his mother when he was in grammer school. After completing his formal training, he discovered jazz. Don, went on to study and perform with the Jazz Development Workshop led by trumpeter Marcus Belgrave.

Having the support of family gave him the drive to excell as a professional musician. He then started to perform with local bands in the Detroit area, working nite clubs and country clubs. Don has since then traveled the world over He has shared the stage with acts such as, Grover Washington Jr., The Dramatics, Little Sonny, Edgar Winter Group, Paul Revere & The Raiders, O.V. Wright, just to name a few. He has also performed on various recordings.
